What makes d2 different to other accountants?
We believe our client feedback / testimonials highlight exactly why we are different and would encourage you to take time to look at these. If you choose to come to d2 Accounting you will quickly realise that we are not your average accountant. We are a young practice that centres on client support and interaction. It is as important to us that you get as good a response to an email you may send, as you get to your accounts being completed efficiently and accurately.
How can you save me money?
By keeping your accounts up to date, you will be able to plan and make more informed decisions day to day, therefore avoiding costly mistakes. We will also ensure that you are claiming for all your business expenses.
What expenses can I claim?
This varies greatly depending on the nature of your business however it does highlight the importance of having an accountant. We regularly meet clients who are not claiming legitimate business expenses and help them to identify and record these.
I’ve just set up my business when should I look for an accountant?
The earlier you can get an accountant involved in your business, the better. By getting an accountant to work with you, you will gain help and support from day one, whether helping you register with HMCE or assisting you with the best way to record your finance transactions.
We find that the most prepared businesses are always the ones that can cope with any problems which may arise.
I only need a tax return completed, surely it’s easy enough to do it myself?
Indeed anyone can complete a tax return, however having an accountant prepare yours for you ensures that you claim for all the correct expenses. Accountancy is ‘what we do’ therefore we know exactly what to look out for and how to assist clients in a variety of businesses. We find that the cost of completing a tax return is usually very small in comparison to the savings made and also the time (and stress) spent by a non professional completing one.
Whenever anyone mentions accountancy to me, I fog over, can you explain things to me in a simple and straightforward way?
We know that accountancy is not always the ‘sexiest’ topic of conversation, there are so many abbreviations, technical and legal terms that even the savviest of people can ‘fog over’. We never presume anything with our clients and are happy to explain and explain again in order for a client to feel comfortable in what is being discussed.
Should I invest in accountancy software?
Accountancy software is an invaluable tool when used correctly. We come across many businesses who have trained themselves (or trusted someone else) on an accountancy package and the information is more confusing than if presented in a carrier bag!
We always like to visit a client’s business and see how they are currently doing things before looking at introducing a software package. For many small businesses a simple Excel spreadsheet (which we can design for you) is just as effective.
My last accountant used to produce one invoice a year which made managing my cash flow difficult, can you make this easier?
We know that every business is different, within the current climate we find that many of our clients would prefer to pay us on an annual standing order. This is calculated and agreed between d2 Accounting and our client.
How much do you charge?
As with most accountants, our fees are calculated based upon the time spent in carrying out the work. Feedback from our clients confirms that they are extremely happy with our rates.
What do I need to do to change accountants?
Changing accountants, although may seem daunting, is incredibly easy. If you already have an accountant acting for you and want to switch, all you need to do is inform us that you would like us to act for you and, out of courtesy, inform your current accountant that you will no longer require their services. We then obtain your accountants name and address and formally write to them, seeking information which will influence our decision as to whether or not accept the appointment. Your current accountant will usually respond, whilst also providing us with any relevant accounting documents / references. Once we are satisfied of this, we can then proceed to accept the appointment by issuing you with a letter of engagement.
We are thinking of hiring a bookkeeper for a few days a week, why should we use you instead?
d2 Accounting is passionate about advocating the benefits of good bookkeeping within a company. Whether a small business which simply needs to have good recording keeping in paper format, or a larger company which requires the use of an accountancy package, good bookkeeping always results in a better run business. d2 Accounting can offer professional bookkeeping for all its clients, either via a tailored system, or using Sage. By choosing to use d2 instead of employing a bookkeeper our clients have reduced their costs (we wont ask for holiday or sick pay!) and in most cases, our clients have been shocked that the bookkeeping they thought would take 3 days per week in fact does not take a fraction of this time when carried out expertly.
Furthermore by using d2 Accounting to carry out your bookkeeping you can relax in the knowledge that your bookkeeping will be done by someone qualified with the institute of certified bookkeepers and all this will be overseen by an accountant.
What do I need to do to have you as my accountant?
If you already have an accountant, please refer to the above question if you are just setting up and have not yet employed the services of an accountant, all you need to do is ask us to act for you. We will need to have 2 pieces of identification from you in order for us to comply with Money Laundering Regulations and will also issue you with our letter of engagement.
I like the sound of d2 Accounting, what do I do next?
Simple, just give us a call on 01443 225620 and arrange an informal no obligation appointment. Alternatively you can email us with your contact details and we will call you.
