It's a hard lesson to learn when you've paid out for advertising that isn't working, but my advice would be that if it ain't working, STOP it! Networking and referral are less costly and ultimately more effective, as customers/clients prefer to buy from people they know. I think the fact that you can build relationships and help others as well as yourself is the key to the success of 4N & Twitter alike.
